Student Learner Services

The Doctor of Education in Community College Leadership Program (Ed. D. CCLP) offers a full slate of services to its students and faculty.

The program of student services at National American University campuses contributes to the career development goals of the university’s students. Student services are provided through personnel, programs, and procedures offered to stimulate student development and personal and social growth. Other aspects of student services attempt to reduce or regulate conditions that might conflict with educational objectives shared by students and the university.

NAU Online Library
National American University's Online Library ( is designed to assist and support doctoral students, faculty, and staff. The Online Library includes the National American University catalog, e-books, tutorials (, and a myriad of electronic searchable databases. The Community College Virtual Library ( is the gateway to accessing the library’s education collection and includes access to ProQuest’s Dissertation and Theses Full Text, Cabell’s Directory of Publishing Opportunities, ProQuest’s Education Journals database, ERIC, and other robust offerings from vendors like Ebsco and Ebrary.

In addition to electronically-available resources, the Harold D. Buckingham Graduate School Library has hard copy academic support materials available including books, journals, magazines, newspapers and other publications that support academic programs. Interlibrary loan services are also available for students needing access to items not in electronic or physical collections.

Doctoral students are also encouraged to set up research consultation appointments with the librarian to familiarize themselves with available library resources. Please see for office hour and contact information.

Technical Support
National American University’s goal in providing learning management systems, internet services, and technical support to students, faculty and staff is to promote educational excellence by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, and communication. Students are encouraged to contact their local cohort coordinator for questions about Canvas, the doctoral program learning management system.

Tutoring Services
Tutoring services for selected courses are available for students taking online and blended courses. To request tutoring services (e.g., use of APA, improve research and writing skills) students should contact their cohort coordinator.

Admissions and Financial Aid Services
National American University has full-time staff dedicated to both admissions and financial aid services. Admissions staff help answer doctoral student questions at the very beginning of their doctoral journey (Have my transcripts been received? Were my letters of recommendations sent?). Financial services representatives provide information and assistance to students about resources to fund their education for more information.

Cohort Coordinator and Assistant Clinical Professors
Every cohort has a team of coordinators and assistant clinical professors, in addition to the regular faculty who teach courses, who serve as liaisons between students and faculty, as well as assist with online and face-to-face sessions.
